Galmpton Primary School awarded highest ‘Outstanding’ rating by OFSTED

Pupils and staff at Galmpton Church of England Primary School in Torbay are celebrating having been judged as being ‘Outstanding’ in all areas during their recent OFSTED inspection.

 

The OFSTED report commended the school for its ‘exceptional education’ where pupils thrive and achieve through an ‘impressive curriculum’ underpinned by academic excellence, character development and metacognition. Inspectors noted the school’s strong commitment to character education and its innovative strategies that ensure children are well-prepared for future challenges.

 

Katy Burns, Headteacher of Galmpton Primary, expressed her delight at the outcome, attributing the success to the dedicated efforts of the school’s staff, children and families. ‘We are thrilled with this outcome because it is testament to the hard work and commitment of our amazing team, our wonderful children, and their supportive families,’ said Mrs Burns.

 

The school is part of The Academies for Character and Excellence. Cheryl Weyman, the Trust Leader highlighted the unique approach that led to this success, ‘This outcome is a direct result of the Trust’s curriculum, which emphasises not only academic excellence but also character development and the skills necessary for lifelong learning. We believe in nurturing every aspect of our children’s growth, and this accolade confirms the effectiveness of our holistic approach.’
